New Years Wishes

Happy New Year!  Coco had some wishes for the new year for family members who were here to celebrate with us last night…

to Maggie:  HAPPINESS AND ICE CREAM

to aunt Jojo:  FAIRY DREAMS

to Aunt Lili:  CANDY COATED KISSES

to Grandma:  SUGAR SWEET LOVING

We also made a pretty amazing discovery about our girl yesterday.  She is for sure reading text.  She takes in a whole page at once.  And I’m talking about a dense encyclopedia-type page.  She looks at it for a few seconds and then she can answer questions about the information in the text.  I guess this would explain the vocabulary.  Enjoy…

As you know Jess, I was not quick to believe that this is all true – after all, how can a little girl who can’t even go to the bathroom alone be capable of spelling words like “suitor” and knowing the proper context to use it? But the things that we have witnessed the past few weeks are nothing short of miraculous. We asked her what side Lincoln was on in the Civil War and she spellied “Union.” Who won the Civil War and she spelled “South.” How does she know these things? You know I don’t believe in God, but I do believe that there are mysteries of the human brain that science has not yet uncovered and I believe that that is where this miracle lies. Coco has a photographic memory; she has a poetic voice; she is playful and kind – and mischievous! I feel like we just met her! I love her and I love you, Alex and Lilly. I can’t even express how happy I am for all of us and how excited to see what the new year brings. Xoxoxo.

They say when you are pregnant you “glow.” It seems to me Coco is glowing–she physically looks different to me. I can grasp how amazing it must be for you and Alex to be able to communicate with her, but I can’t even begin to imagine how amazing it is for Coco to finally be heard and understood by those she loves!!!

    Jess and Alex
She continues to amaze me and I love reading all she has to write. I can see now how you look forward to what she has to say. I hope you received my gift and my thought was that you could read it with coco…maybe she would enjoy it too. I believe in God and I believe that His presence is within coco right now. Her words are beautiful and I love reading every one. I hope you and your family have the Happiest of New Years! I look forward to sharing 2016 with you through this blog. I am wondering…has coco had anything to say to Lilly? Do you think she understands who she is to her? Loads of Love and continued blessings, Kimi

OK, so this is just not fair – I’m sitting here switching back and forth between crying and smiling (at work, mind you). I am so happy for all of you and especially for Coco. Her writing is beautiful and she really has a special voice – she has a sensibility about her that is to be cherished. I want to read what she writes. I want to see her. She is so lucky to have the three of you. Love, Paul
